Das eigentliche Vorbereitungstreffen fand am Mittwoch, den 18. Juli statt. Hier erfolgten Hinweise zum Programm, zur Dokumentation und zum Festhalten von Ideen und Eindrücken auf der Wikimania. Außerdem bot es die Möglichkeit, sich gegenseitig kennenzulernen, Fragen zu stellen und zu beantworten, und sich gemeinsam auf die Wikimania einzustimmen.
