Abstract

Wikimedia Activities have been growing across the continent over the past 4 years, and Wikimedia affiliates are doing amazing but obscured work in the continent. This presentation aims to shine a spot light on projects and activities by African Wikimedia Affiliates, conducted under difficult circumstances and with fewer resources. We will look at how African Wikimedia projects are promoting Gender and culture content that is scarcely represented in Wikipedia projects and how they work with national and global institutions to achieve their goals.

Outcomes

Increased awareness of Wikimedia Projects in Africa and appreciation of extraordinary efforts that go into Volunteering in Africa
