Request for permissions

I would like to help with i18n/l10n in this wiki in general and relating to Ukrainian (and perhaps Russian) language. I need administrator and translation administrator rights for this (to be able to edit Mediawiki namespace pages such as sidebar related messages as well as mark for translation content pages. I used to have the flags on London, Mexico and Esino-Lario Wikimania wikis (IIRC). I also hold the flags in several wikis including Meta. I would also be happy to help with general admin stuff such as fighting off vandalism (which will surely come with the banners on) or whatever in my capacity needed when I'm around. --Base (talk) 01:12, 13 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

 Done --MarcoAurelio (talk) 08:46, 23 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sysop flag request

I am the local chapter organising committee member responsible for the Wikimania 2018 website. As such I will probably need admin access at some time. Currently admin on English Wikivoysge. Cheers, Pbsouthwood (talk) 08:13, 29 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Pbsouthwood: Done, best regards. --MarcoAurelio (talk) 11:16, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Can you please give me sysop and Traslation administration flags so I could help with marking pages in translation and translating in MediaWiki interface. I'm admin and Traslation administration in Wikimania2017, I'm admin on it.wikiversity, beta.wikiversity and I'm Traslation administration on Meta WikiSpecies Wikidata Commons. Request for Administrator and Translation Administrator Permissions

Hi, I would like to request administrator and translation administrator permissions on this wiki to help with maintenance and help with bookmarking for translation. I already had both permissions on Wikimania 2017 wiki. Thanks. —Alvaro Molina ( - ) 15:53, 20 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Already done. --MarcoAurelio (talk) 11:13, 21 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sysop Request

Hey, I Would like to Sysop Request For making Interface in My Native Language Hindi. I am currently sysop at Hindi Wikiversity. And Have experience of installing the Gadget. Thanks--Jayprakash12345 (talk) 03:56, 23 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Not done; because the user later withdrew the SRP requests, but the user is free to apply for the same permissions again at any time. --MarcoAurelio (talk) 11:12, 21 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sysop request

Requesting to be given the Administrator user-right on this wiki, in my role as the Program Committee chair. Specific use case is to lock, and still be able to edit, the Submissions page (and related subpages, and the Program pages, if necessary). These are official descriptions of conference submission documentation that must match the submission form on a different website and should not be changed - at least not without the explicit knowledge of the program chair/conference organiser :-) A similar story for the program, once it is built. Done. --MarcoAurelio (talk) 12:43, 2 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Bureaucrats & Admins from organising committee

Following the discussion on Meta at Stewad requests/Permissions#Wittylama (which references the discussion immediately above on this page), User:MarcoAurelio has given me Bureaucrat rights on this wiki. I've now added three new admins: User:Discott (Conference Chair), User:Emnamizouni & User:Flixtey (program committee co-chairs) and also another bureaucrat User:EYoung (WMF) - the WMF event manager. Wittylama (talk) 16:49, 2 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sysop/translate admin

Hello! I'd like to request sysop/translation admin to help with maintenance; I've had these rights on wm2016, wm2015. Best, L235 (talk) 01:28, 5 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Thanks for your willingness to help. Wittylama (talk) 07:04, 5 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Dear User:L235 - since you've asked for translate-admin rights in particular, I've got a request for you! Today I've been trying to make the 'header' templates consistent across the five tabs - Home, Call for submissions, Volunteer, Sponsor, Attend - and I'm having some difficulty making sure they are correctly formatted. I will admit a limited understanding of how the <translate></translate> tags are supposed to work properly. See my edit history from 7 Jan. for my attempts to clean up. The pages in question are Header_1 and numerically through to Header_5, and their respective /en subpages. Could you please take a look and ensure they are appropriate, consistent, and don't have trailing 'onlyinclude' or 'translate' tags showing up, especially when logged in with English as MyLanguage. [courtesy notification of user:Pbsouthwood and User:AlvaroMolina. Sincerely, Wittylama (talk) 23:17, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I see that User:Brackenheim is getting involved in this issue! Thank you. Can you tell me if the above question is clear and if you believe the issue is 'resolved'? From what I can see in my login settings everything appears correct except header_5 when used on the Attend page (as the time that I write this). Wittylama (talk) 01:09, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Wittylama: Just wanted you to know I just saw this and will try to take a look soon. For some reason, I'm not getting pings on this wiki – I'll look into that as well. Thanks! L235 (talk) 07:23, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Translation

Is there a primer on the translation process somewhere? I have very little idea of how it works and what the associated tabs and templates do, which is causing problems when I try to work out how to change things without breaking anything. Pbsouthwood (talk) 07:52, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know that much about the translation system, but maybe I can help. If you're interested in that system, you can find more information here: mw:Help:Extension:Translate/Page translation example Or just ask me ;-) Cheers, --Brackenheim (talk) 09:09, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I will read and see if it helps. Cheers, Pbsouthwood (talk) 17:33, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion

Could a sysop delete User talk:Husboyz as useless spam and garbage? Thanks, Hiàn (talk) 02:04, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not an admin, but I've deleted it. MarcoAurelio (talk) 21:33, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request for translation administrator

Hi! I'd like to request the translation administrator flag here as there are several pages that require translation (for one, the rest of the headers). I've never had the flag before, however, I'm certain that I will be able to familiarize myself with the system quickly. I have done various translations in French and Esperanto. Hiàn (talk) 19:37, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion there's currently no need to translate the other headers, because they are only used on pages, that are not translateable yet. If you want to mark pages for translation, feel free to do so, but please read this documentation first. Then a translation admin can mark the page for translation and you can translate it - all without the rights. Kind regards, --Brackenheim (talk) 18:13, 5 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Good idea. I'll withdraw then. Hiàn (talk) 22:32, 5 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Spambots and out of scope user pages

We have had a few of these recently. It was suggested to set up filters, but that is outside my experience. If there is anyone who can do this please go ahead. Cheers, Pbsouthwood (talk) 08:50, 5 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Pbsouthwood: To clarify, pages like Deogiri Institute Of Engineering And Management Studies,Aurangabad? Given the low editing volume here, do you think we should just handle those manually? L235 (talk) 18:11, 6 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I've gone ahead and deleted that page. Best, L235 (talk) 18:23, 6 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
That sort of thing, Yes.
I don't know. I have little experience in this field. Pbsouthwood (talk) 07:14, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

User:FuzzyBot - add bot flag

User:FuzzyBot could use a bot flag because... it's a bot! (assign). It's part of the Translate extension. Regards, --MarcoAurelio (talk) 21:34, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Wittylama, EYoung (WMF): You're the bureaucrats here ... --Brackenheim (talk) 18:16, 5 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks MarcoAurelio/Brackenheim - User:FuzzyBot is now officially a bot :-) Wittylama (talk) 08:37, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks to you Wittylama. Regards, --MarcoAurelio (talk) 15:55, 17 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

alerts and notices

I dont seem to be getting any from this wiki when I am editing elsewhere. Pbsouthwood (talk) 17:31, 27 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe because you disabled interwiki notifications, or you did not get any. Anchorvale (talk) 07:33, 26 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Volunteer page countdown does not sync

To date, Volunteer page does not sync the countdown calendar. --Omotecho (talk) 14:48, 12 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Purging it will usually solve the issue. (Append ?action=purge in URL.) Likely server side caching issue. — regards, Revi 16:41, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Admin/TA for quiddity

I'd like to help out as needed. E.g. I was glancing at RecentChanges for something else, and spotted this spam/nonsense Special:Contributions/185.102.29.224. I'm very familiar with translation tools from metawiki and mediawikiwiki. Quiddity (talk) 00:13, 30 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

aaaaand done! Wittylama (talk)

Admin/TA for revi

Hi.

While I just deleted a spam moments ago as a steward, I believe I could ask for local sysop, as I got for wikimania2017wiki. I’ll primarilly use it for deleting/blocking spam, nonsense, vandalism. And I have TA and used it on meta, Commons, WD, and MediaWiki.org, so I know how to work with translation extensions, so I am sure I won’t create a mess for others to cleanup. Thanks for considering. — regards, Revi 16:39, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Wittylama: Hello? — regards, Revi 17:32, 26 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
sorry, done! Wittylama (talk) 23:43, 30 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Uploading nonfree files

This is supposed to be possible for admins. How do I do it? Please ping with reply, this is fairly urgent. Cheers, Pbsouthwood (talk) 07:17, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

User:Pbsouthwood Going directly to Special:Upload should work. Quiddity (talk) 18:01, 30 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, It does. Pbsouthwood (talk) 19:10, 30 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
