What is Wikimania?
Wikimania is the annual conference celebrating all the free knowledge projects hosted by the Wikimedia Foundation -
Commons,
MediaWiki,
Meta-Wiki,
Wikibooks,
Wikidata,
Wikinews,
Wikipedia,
Wikiquote,
Wikisource,
Wikispecies,
Wikiversity,
Wikivoyage, and
Wiktionary - with three days of conferences, discussions, meetups, training, and workshops. Hundreds of volunteers and Free Knowledge leaders from around the world gather to discuss issues, report on new projects and approaches, and exchange ideas.
The theme of Wikimania 2018 is "Bridging knowledge gaps: the Ubuntu way forward," with the aim of focusing on what and who is still missing from our sum of all human knowledge, and building shared strategies to bridge these collective gaps.
This year's Wikimania will be held at the Southern Sun Cape Sun Hotel in Cape Town, South Africa, from 18th July to 22nd July, 2018. All are welcome, whether you're an expert, enthusiast, beginner, or just curious!
